Twilight Series

Basically since that first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when I was around 8 or 9 years old, I have greatly enjoyed the giddy rush of being a devoted fan. At the time, there was a warning at the beginning of Buffy episodes that you should be 14 years old to watch, so I would sneak upstairs into the guest room with the tiny anitque tv, lock the door, and swoon over the pretty pale boy. I’ll still randomly quote the show, and you probably won’t notice unless you’re a crazy fan, too.

I love the thrill of finding a new story that grabs me in that same giddy way that Buffy did when I was 8 years old. A lot of people seem to be of the opinion that it’s not good to immerse yourself in fictional stories to the extent that I do-but I don’t feel like I’ve ever understood why. The only real arguement I hear is that you miss out on the real world-but that’s missing the point. I love talking about things with other fans and being able to discuss events in our own lives and relate them to the stories. It gives me a whole other level of insight into people’s lives, and I love it.

Anyhow! My current source of geekdom is the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer. Breaking Dawn came out a few weeks ago and I’m still chatting away about it. I would recommend checking it out of course-it’s wonderful fun.
