Some New Thrift Store Finds

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

I went to the thrift store this weekend and picked up my next two craft projects. One is a lamp that I’ll be tearing to pieces to build something new. It has a wooden frame that will be good to work with. I have a firm plan in place for what I’m going to do with this and I’m really excited to work on it.

The second project is a little bit bigger, and I’m less sure all of what I’ll be doing. I love trunks-chests, whatever you’d like to call them. I found one for ten dollars at the thrift store that came with it’s key and everything-I have some general fixing up plans, but I’d like to do some other things that I’m still very vague on. I’ll post pictures of them later for a before and after show and tell.

We also picked up a huge bag of cassette tapes. Our car doesn’t have a CD player, so this was very necessary. We’ve been listening to commercials on the radio for way too long. I was so pleased with things we found-Nirvana, Fiona Apple, Glenn Miller Band, Van Halen, The Talking Heads, Veruca Salt-for examples. We’re a little eclectic :)

Simple Quilled Flower Card

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I’ve been doing a LOT of quilling lately, but no big finished completely projects to show you, though I suppose there will be soon. Beyond quilling, it’s just been a lot of working on Fantasy is Love and working lately. I’m so glad that our heat wave from last week is over, it was killing me. I’ve been lacking on sleep, and a lack of sleep mixed with heat gets me feeling quite terrible-no fun at all. It’s probably why I haven’t had anything interesting to say.

Next weekend we are going to Bumbershoot, a music and arts festival here in Seattle, and we are going to see the Stone Temple Pilots! Oooooh, yes

Here’s one of the little cards I finished recently…

Quilling Blue Box

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I’ve been doing a ridiculous amount of crafting lately, but I’ve basically just been starting one project after another without really completing a whole lot. This is one of the things I’ve been working on which is basically finished, but probably only because it was fairly simple.

The flower is three layers with a blue bead on top that looks really cool in the light. It’s a cute simple little box and I like it The colors on the quilling paper are actually MUCH brighter than they appear in this picture.
